KWAN YU

My paintings are based on the juxtaposition of the images I had memorized and the reconfiguration of common objects. The source materials usually come from the images and texts found in the art magazines and from the common utilitarian objects that have been sitting in the studio space for a long time. I try to rationalize and reconfigure these images within the pictorial space of painting to discuss the general ideas around art, artistic production and human condition.

My paintings are about my own personal struggle to reflect and internalize the current state of painting and art in general.
