MICHAEL ROSENFELD

Michael A. Rosenfeld generates airship visions that appear in monochromatic realms. As Zeppelins were originally introduced in the early 20th century, Rosenfeld pays homage with an appropriated painting of a zeppelin over New York .

Rosenfeld has also pursued these large compositions onto autonomous landscapes and new terrains, referencing imagery relevant to the historic advancements of the zeppelin. His perspective creates a sci-fi atmosphere against the smokey photo realistic schemes, all while maintaining the painterly gestures that elude to black and white photography. In former paintings, Rosenfeld breaks down the zeppelin into skeletal forms and constructions providing an abstract and geometric blue print. His series of dirigible paintings implies a conversation of technological identity found and lost within history, Rosenfeld investigates these landscapes with a dreamlike haze of a zeppelin’s travels.
